Pathways to Recovery: Restoring Rights for Victims and Their Families in Syria

This project addresses the urgent needs of survivors of torture and families of the missing in Homs. After years of arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance, survivors face trauma, stigma, and legal complications, while families continue their search for truth and justice.

Main Activities

  • Legal Clinic: Providing free legal assistance, case documentation, and legal representation for survivors and families of the missing.
  • Legal Empowerment: Conducting 20 workshops on truth, accountability, reparation, and international justice mechanisms, reaching at least 300 families.
  • Documentation Training: Training 100 participants on safe documentation techniques, oral history collection, and evidence preservation.
  • Psychosocial Support: Individual sessions for 100 survivors and their families, 30 group sessions for 200 participants, and establishment of 5 peer support groups.
  • Community Resilience: Linking families with national and international organizations to ensure the impact of their documentation and advocacy in justice and reconciliation processes.

Impact

The project integrates legal empowerment with psychosocial support to strengthen individual recovery and community resilience. Survivors gain pathways to justice and mental health care, while families engage in the pursuit of truth, accountability, and reconciliation. This victim-centered approach reinforces the foundations of transitional justice in Syria.
