“Hear Us” Campaign In partnership with the Survivors’ Community and Advocates of the Cause

March 24 Occasion: International Day for the Right to the Truth

On March 24, Amal Center for Advocacy and Recovery launched the “Hear Us” Campaign to shed light on the reality of women survivors from Assad regime prisons, ensuring their voices are present in public discussions and justice pathways. The campaign focused on affirming the right to truth and recognition, and on breaking the silence imposed by the political and social conditions in Syria and in countries of asylum.

Campaign Objectives

  • Correct misconceptions about the reality of survivors by providing accurate and reliable information.
  • Support survivors in their psychological, social, and legal recovery.
  • Amplify survivors’ voices to the public, international bodies, and human rights organizations.
  • Empower survivors to defend their cause and claim their rights.
  • Advance the processes of truth, transitional justice, and reparation.

Campaign Activities

  • Dialogue Workshops: In Şanlıurfa, Mersin, Antakya, Azaz, and Afrin to discuss needs and advocacy messages.
  • A Mural in Mare’: Representing the cause and addressing both local and international communities.
  • Distribution of Informative Brochures: In Turkey and northern Syria to deliver the campaign’s core messages.
  • Online Platform: Documenting survivors’ news, testimonies, and stories, while providing an interactive library. (Platform link)

Campaign Messages

The voices of survivors of detention are often silenced, either by political and social conditions or by being appropriated by other parties. Silencing these voices deprives survivors of their right to heal, to express themselves, and to access justice. It also obstructs the path to truth, transitional justice, and reparation. All segments of Syrian society must support survivors by prioritizing this cause, aiding their recovery, and spreading their voices as widely as possible.
